Our Yellow Box(Eucalyptus melliodora) are flowering and it’s snowing on the big deck.
As you may know our place is extensively planted with Oleander trees. A left over from previous owners.
Part of our long-term plan is to remove all of the Oleanders over time.
The best photos we took in April 2018
The road works continue… (I am going to be saying that a lot!)
We have maintained an active role in the road works, and have attempted to gain as much info as possible and exercise our knowledge of the road when we are talking to the various workers. Some times that pays off. Sometimes not.
We still have some non-native tree on the property, but are slowly removing them all.
Among those are the big Jacaranda and the similar sized Poinciana.
Both these need a chop back as they are very shady.
We have made a few Bee Hotels and have them hanging on the house deck.
They have worked really well and been occupied mainly by wasps and small native bees.
In the terraces at the front of the house is a number of larger and mature Callistemon(Bottle Brush) trees.
One of the larger ones is near the North East corner of the house. Unfortunately this tree is starting to cast shadow on our solar panels, so it is going to need a big chop!
This was the first water habitat we created when we got here, almost 2 years ago.
But the growth of trees and shrubs around it has made it harder and harder to see, and therefore harder to see the birds that visit.
Two nights ago the road works started at Site 55. This is one of the sites close to our house and adjoining our property.
