We still have some non-native tree on the property, but are slowly removing them all.
Among those are the big Jacaranda and the similar sized Poinciana.
Both these need a chop back as they are very shady.
In the terraces at the front of the house is a number of larger and mature Callistemon(Bottle Brush) trees.
One of the larger ones is near the North East corner of the house. Unfortunately this tree is starting to cast shadow on our solar panels, so it is going to need a big chop!
This was the first water habitat we created when we got here, almost 2 years ago.
But the growth of trees and shrubs around it has made it harder and harder to see, and therefore harder to see the birds that visit.
One morning you wake up and your prized Brachychiton sp.(Flame Tree/Bottle Tree/Kurrajong) looks like it has been attacked by very tiny bondage experts!
Tiny white ropes have tied up all the stems sand branches, and the leaves are gathered in tiny bundles and bound.
Here in Cainbable, and across the surrounding ridges, Xanthorrhoea trees(Grass Trees) are naturally occurring and plentiful.
We collect some of the spikes from Xanthorrhoeas on our property each year and collect the seeds that they produce.

After clearing and widening the Dragonfuit level with the excavator we needed to plant out the new bank we had created at the eastern end of the level.
The bank was made with excess mountain soil from the excavation.
We finished off the Grevillea garden on the Tank Level today.
It’s a good feeling, to get it finished, to get plants in the ground and see how it will all potentially look.
By our estimations, the house here at Arborlon was built about 20 years ago.We don’t know who built it, but as we’ve lived here now for two years, we’ve noticed how well they designed the aspects of the house to achieve natural heating and cooling. We have no need for heating or air-conditioning!
