The first Asparagus of the season has shot up and we are hoping for a bit more success than last year.
We have 5 Asparagus crowns of varying age and quality. Last year they struggled with not enough water and not enough nutrition, but this year should be better.
We have already had some decent Spring rain and more is on the way. With the addition of large amounts of Mushroom compost, Worm Juice, Comfrey Tea and Mulch we should see a better crop this year.
Being able to step outside, and snap of a few spikes to add to whatever you are cooking is certainly a bonus.
Fingers crossed for a bumper crop!
