We managed to document our first ‘official’ sighting of Glossy Back Cockatoos(Calyptorhynchus lathami) today.
We have seen them before, but at a distance, and we have heard them in the Casuarinas(Allocasuarina torulosa) feeding, and seen evidence of their feeding… but have not been able to confirm or document them.
Glossy Black Cockatoos feed almost exclusively on Casuarina ‘cones’ and are listed as a Vulnerable Species here in Queensland and in other states.
You will have to excuse the photos… they were a long way off and deep in the trees.
