Despite the cold nights, the weather lately has been sunny and warm. At times even hot.
This seems to have brought out a large number of birds that we see daily, passing the deck or on our way around the property.
While most of the regulars are here, we also seem to have some new visitors.
Here’s a few recent bird sightings.
Laughing Kookaburra
Dacelo novaeguineae
A family of Kookaburras live in the forest just of the deck. We see them and hear them every day.
Striated Pardalote
Pardalotus striatus
With our steep banks and eroded gullies we see lots of Pardalotes across our property
Golden Whistler
Pachycephala pectoralis
The Golden Whistlers live behind the house in South Park, and are regular visitors to the Cassia brewsterii at the end of the deck.
Scarlet Honeyeater
Myzomela sanguinolenta
A regular visitor to all of our Callistemons and Melaleucas.
Grey Shrike Thrush
Colluricincla harmonica
One of our favourites, and a beautiful song bird.
Spotted Pardarlote
Pardalotus punctatus
One of the truly spectacular birds that calls our place home.
