About 10am yesterday(12th Dec) we spotted a fire to our south west which was a new fire. The fire was just across the western valley on the other side of Cainbable Creek.

As our ridge faces west, we have always been vigilant for fires on our western side.  This is one of the closest we have had.

The fire started around 9:30 and we were the second reporting call to 000.

Luckily the wind was not really an issue, and the fire burned slowly in an expanding circle.

The fire was still burning and growing at midday, and around 2pm they sent in water bombers to stop the leading edge going over the ridge.

The water bombers(Below) did a great job and all but extinguished to top edge of the fire.

By about 3pm all seemed quiet and the majority of the fire appeared under control or within containment lines.

We breathed a sigh of relief and enjoyed a quiet but smokey evening.
